Further Exercises-Unit 3

Dear Students,

The file entitled  “Further Exercises IPA”  provides you with further practice.  I highly recommend that you pay attention to the target words/phrases along with their phonectic transcriptions. In addtion to this, it would be beneficial to you to concentrate on study questions” and  “tasks” given at the end of each chapter in Yule’s (2010) book.

Best wishes,

The Sounds of English

Dear students,

The link given below will lead you to a web page which presents phonetic symbols in a detailed way.  It also includes videos which demonstrate how to pronounce each of the sounds.  There are also activities designed for identifying the difference between certain sounds which may sound similar.

I strongly recommend that you take a closer look at this material and study the examples provided there.

I believe that it will help you to explore phonetic symbols in depth.
